As a child, Elison loved doodling. Her childhood past-time, however, was gradually side-lined by other priorities. In 2016, a good friend bought her an art jamming session as a birthday gift, and the experience rekindled her forgotten love for art. Since that serendipitous day, painting and drawing have become not just a hobby, but a practice of mindfulness and an outlet for Elison’s creative expression.
Elison creates art using oil, acrylic, and charcoal. She enjoys working on portraits, both of humans and animals. She is especially drawn to the eyes of the subject. It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. In her works, she hopes to unravel – through colours and brush strokes – the emotions, thoughts, and character of the subject. With this, she invites the audience to peek into the soul of the subject so as to gain a deeper appreciation of the world the subject resides in.
